Photography Assignment:
Your first assignment is doing a study on each of the design elements (Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Space, Form). What does that mean? You will need to turn in at least 3 photographs for each element. I will want to know the following:
Research some ideas through Google. As you work through each element, you will want to research other photographers and what they have done. You will want to place your photos and writing in Photoshop, BUT save your photos separately, as well. When you are done, you will turn it in to me on your flash drive (save as both .psd and jpg). Use 13x19 or 19x13 inches for lay-out... and put 2 or 3 elements on each sheet with the writing. The example below is not the correct size. SAVE EVERYTHING! BE ORGANIZED. After reviewing this assignment, I will go over it with you and we will talk about it. Don't be afraid to talk among yourselves about what you are seeing in each other's work. Creativity is going to play a big part of your success... PAY ATTENTION TO THE COURSEWORK RUBRIC. When you are saving things, create folders for each study, etc.,... Save your writing and each photo. One of your photos may be used for demonstration or a show... and/or your final work. Don't pitch anything but really bad photos. Later, you will probably want to look at what you have done and use some of what you have gained in this study for future work... so you will want to do your very best. |
Digital Art Assignment:
Welcome to your first assignment in AICE Graphic Design. In this assignment, we will be revisiting some things that you learned last year and building on those things. In this particular assignment, you will be revisiting ART ELEMENTS (line, color, texture, shape/form, space, value <tone>). For each element, you will create 2 ORIGINAL pieces of art. You may not take anything from the internet… it must be all original. One must be in color and one must be in black/white – or grayscale). The first thing that you should do is sketch out some ideas, before you start working in Adobe. They do not have to be perfect sketches… but just some good strong ideas. As a matter of fact, if you like what you sketched, we can scan those sketches into jpg format and you can convert them to vector art to work with them further. Whatever the case may be, it must be original art. Some of these will be easier than others, but stick to it. If you get stuck, move on to another… work through each one. Before you know it, you will have some really super ideas. You may, however, use the internet to look up some ideas. Take notes of your process… your happy moments of success and your frustration moments. What did you do to make it successful? What frustrated you and how did you get through it? You can work in different programs, but the final program you should finish with is Adobe Illustrator for your final product. Research some ideas through Google. As you work through each element, you will want to research other photographers and what they have done. You will want to place your photos and writing in Photoshop, BUT save your images separately, as well. When you are done, you will turn it in to me on your flash drive (save as both .psd and jpg).
