Due Date: April 8 for all
Because of COVID-19, I, of course, am extending your deadline for this project until April 8. Most of you have already taken your photos and only need to put it together and turn it in. If you never even started, then you still have a little time. Do your photo essay on "Being Self-Quarantined." Try to avoid a lot of selfies... tell your story as if through your eyes.
Use PowerPoint to put together. If you need help with that, let me know. If are really comfortable with one of the Movie programs, I'm fine with that... it must be an MP4 or MOV file. You will probably have to upload it to your OneDrive to share it with me. PowerPoint is the safest .

What is a Photo Essay?
A Photo essay is a series of photos that tell a story. Good photo essays often do not need captions; however, most will have some sort of explanation that goes along with it. Click on the links below for some strong samples of Photo Essays.

The Assignment
Step 1: First, you must decide what you will do your photo essay about. This can not be staged. I strongly suggest a couple of back up plans, just in case this one does not pan out. This MUST be about 1 Person. If you have to make plans, this is the starting point... contact people/companies that you may need to contact and MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. No silly things like "a day in the life of my dog." Once you have some ideas, go to step 2. Remember: You must answer these questions: WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW AND WHY!
Step 2: Research some ideas. Like suggested in STEP 1, have some back up plans. Go to the Canvas Assignment called "Photo Essay P and follow the instructions there. There are websites above and below that will help you with your research. Gold Day - due Wednesday, February 26, 11:59 p.m./ Black Day - due Thursday, February 27, 11:59 p.m.
Step 3: Get out and take your photos. Take your time, but be on the move. Take several photos. You will need 12 - 20+ STRONG photos to complete this project. Take more than this, as you will probably not want to use some of them.
Step 4: On your Due Dates:
Black - Thursday, March 26/Gold - Friday, March 27 (This includes 5th period) Bring photos to class to correct. This will be the only day to work on them in class. So you should have your photos in order of placement, and captions ready.
My hope is that you do not have to correct any of them, but if you do, you need to get them corrected. Always do your best to make your corrections from behind the camera. We will then put them in Movie Maker or PowerPoint and add music and captions. iMovie is an Apple Computer product and not available on our computers, therefore, if you want to use those programs, you will need to do those on your own computer. You can certainly bring your own laptops to school to work on this project; however, you will need to keep them safe (you can drop them off with me during the day, so you don't have to carry them (I will keep them safely locked up).

Equipment
It is very important to get really good quality photos for this photo essay. I recommend using our school cameras (you may use the telephoto lenses as well). Image quality is on the rubric, so if it is poor, that will count against your assignment success. I will also allow the following or a mixture of the following:
- School Camera/Lenses
- Hi end digital cameras (Go-Pro, Nikon Cool-Pix, Canon Sure Shot, ....)
- Hi end camera on your smart phone - make sure you have some settings correct and that you have a really good camera on your phone.
